Building Your Future!

Our new $26 million Science and Mathematics builiding
opens in September - just in time for fall quarter!

The new building is a welcome addition to the Seattle Central campus. It doubles the amount of laboratory space and provides classroom and laboratory space for biological sciences, the biotechnology program, chemistry, earth and environmental sciences, math, physics, astronomy and computer science. The four floors of instructional space totals 69,000 square feet, and each floor provides study areas for students, offices for faculty and staff and includes related preparation, storage and support spaces.

Future plans include a Plant Sciences Laboratory, which will feature an ethnobotanical/culinary herb garden, a Northwest plant collection, a children’s garden and a 150 square foot working classroom garden.

A Closer Look

The first floor of the Science and Mathematics building includes a large study lounge and tutoring/testing center, two math/computer labs, and office space. Beautiful blue glass panels with elaborate physics designs decorate the front entrance wall.

The second floor houses the geology laboratory, physics laboratory, two large lecture rooms and three classrooms. Biology students will find the third floor labs exciting with cutting edge microbiology and biotechnology laboratories.

Chemistry classes will be held on the fourth floor where modern laboratories (two inorganic chemistry labs and one organic chemistry lab), a preparation room, and two demonstration classrooms await students fall quarter.

The building features decorative tile art work reflecting science images and the language of mathematics. And students and faculty will savor spectacular views of the Space Needle, downtown Seattle, Puget Sound and the Olympic mountain range through the numerous west facing windows.

Student Services Area is Brand New Too!

Students at Seattle Central will also find a new student services area created expressly with student needs in mind!
